Thanksgiving Message from Mayor Soglin
November 23, 2011
Let us join together in celebrating our many gifts this Thanksgiving Holiday and keep in mind those struggling to maintain a sustainable home.
This has clearly been a tough year for many, as some of us as individuals and families, are experiencing the loss of jobs and incomes. I am pleased that as Americans we have exercised our right to express our frustrations in a safe and peaceful manner.
It is heartwarming to learn of the many Madisonians reaching out to help others in need this holiday and beyond. Whether it be a gift of food, money or volunteering of time, those efforts make a difference to many families. I know we will all keep those families in mind and in our hearts as this holiday season progresses.
I encourage you to continue to reach out to those in need, whether it be an elderly neighbor who needs help with shoveling or a young child who has no winter hat, we can truly make a difference in one another's lives and make this city an even greater place to live.
