Wood Mulch Unavailable

posted

The City of Madison is unable to supply residents with wood mulch due to an equipment malfunction. The shortage is expected to last several weeks. "We have had a major problem with our wood processing machine," Madison recycling coordinator George Dreckmann said. "We are going to have to wait for parts to be delivered and installed which will take at least two weeks." The Streets Division tries to make wood mulch available to Madison residents at several parks around the area. The mulch comes from material collected from the Division's brush collection program and from trees trimmed by the Forestry Division. "The wood mulch program is very popular, especially at this time of year," Dreckmann said. "It is unfortunate that we will not be able to have material available." Residents should check the Streets Division's web site, www.cityofmadison.com/streets, to find out when mulch will be again be available.
