Special Sweeping Program To Start

The City of Madison will begin its annual Special Street Sweeping in the central city on Monday May 18th. "Starting this Thursday, May 14th, special bright orange no parking signs will begin to pop up on streets in central Madison," Streets Division spokesperson George Dreckmann said. "These temporary parking restrictions will allow our street sweepers to get the to curb line on streets that are full of parked cars virtually 24 hours a day." In some cases parking meters will be covered so they cannot be used during the special sweeping period. A list of streets scheduled to be swept as part of this program is available at http://www.cityofmadison.com/streets/SpecialSweeping.cfm. Violators of the temporary no parking restrictions will be ticketed and towed. Schedule is subject to change. Always obey posted parking restrictions.
